Glassdoor Releases Greatest Locations to Work in 2021 Lists

Fewer tech companies were featured on Glassdoor, a provider of job and business intelligence, of the world’s best places to work in 2021. However, some of the better-known names on the list rebounded.

Glassdoor has more than 70 million reviews and insights from over 1.3 million companies and counts more than 50 million unique users each month. It has around 12,000 employer customers.

The average CEO rating on the platform is 72%, and the average company rating is 3.5 out of five. 76% of employees state that they are “OK” or “satisfied” with their jobs and companies.

Glassdoor published its lists of the Top 100 Companies in the United States (1,000 or more employees) and the Top 50 Small and Medium-Sized Businesses (less than 1,000) and ranked them on a five-point scale based on anonymous employee reviews.

Bain & Co. led the Top 100 and took the title back from HubSpot. There were 28 tech companies on the list, up from 31 on the 2020 list, and Glassdoor highlighted significant placement gains from Apple (up 53 places), Salesforce (17), Facebook (12) and Google (five).

  • Microsoft: “Good work-life balance, teamwork, great culture, flexibility to pursue my intellectual goal and challenge my potential”, program manager in Seattle.
  • Facebook: “Management has been very supportive of the transition to remote and working from home due to Covid-19,” the New York-based privacy program manager.
  • LinkedIn: “The company really cares about the wellbeing of its employees, especially during Covid-19. The benefits are amazing, ”explains the software developer in Mountain View, California.
  • Salesforce: “Inclusive, Best Pay and Perks, Smartest People, Excellent Covid-19 Response,” Lead Technical Author based in San Francisco.
  • Apple: “Apple is a workplace with respect, value for people, innovation and teamwork. The culture is inclusive, ”explains the front-end architect in Cupertino, California.
  • Adobe: “The compensation and benefits are excellent, but even more impressive is the flexibility over time. That’s remarkable, ”said the senior finance manager in Lehi, Utah.
  • Slack: “Leadership cares about people and has been incredibly supportive of leisure and life balance during Covid-19,” Senior Software Engineer from Denver.

Life.Church topped the list of the 50 best SMEs and 14 tech companies were included, up from 21 in 2020.
