Salesforce today launched Digital 360 for Industries, a suite of services designed to help organizations move to digitize in market segments such as consumer products, financial services, nonprofits, and the public sector. According to Salesforce, Digital 360 enables companies to address challenges related to data collection, systems integration and compliance requirements with pre-built templates, industry-specific developer toolkits and customer guides.

In a changing, fully digital pandemic and post-pandemic world, consumers spend 54% more time on digital channels, according to Salesforce. This has meant that many companies have had to change their operating models, even in industries that in the past had been reluctant to make the leap into the digital world. According to a recent report by the Prophet, digital transformation is still widely perceived as a cost center and data to demonstrate ROI is still difficult to come by.

Digital 360 for Industries is designed to ease the transition with a library of website layouts, pre-built portals, and integrations with other technologies. The components deal with use cases like business continuity management, insurance agents, licenses, permits and inspections, fundraising for nonprofits, and more. For example, the insurance agent template provides a portal for independent agents to manage their customer list. The template enables agents to view customer policy entitlements, life events, business milestones, and other key moments to help keep agents organized and deepen customer relationships.

Digital 360 for Industries also includes the above toolkits, which include code and app samples, documentation links, and best practice data for integrating retail into digital experiences. The toolkits provide retail, discrete manufacturing, and consumer business guides that include implementation plans, certifications, and industry best practices. The guides recommend ways to create e-commerce functionality for insurance, grocery, communications, and media companies, among other things.

Change the market

Digital 360 for Industries is Salesforce’s latest product in the growing digital transformation market, which is projected to grow from $ 469.8 billion in 2020 to $ 1 trillion in 2025, according to Research & Markets. Based on a recent survey of 1,200 midsize to large US companies, the average budget for digital transformation in 2018 was $ 14 million and is expected to increase. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, digital transformation is expected to add $ 100 trillion to the global economy by 2025. Platform-driven interactions enable two-thirds of the value at stake through digitization.

Salesforce says customers like Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America, Deluxe, Fanalca, and Foodstuffs are already using Digital 360 for Industries to deliver goods and services online through tools, websites, and portals. “Given the changing consumer trends and business models as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Foodstuffs North Island, New Zealand’s largest grocer, was able to use digital channels to expand wholesale relationships,” said Simon Kennedy, Chief Digital Officer of Foodstuffs, in a press release. “We were able to open a new consumer storefront in just a few weeks that is spinning fast with Salesforce tools for grocery and digital experiences.”

Digital 360 for Industries is generally available starting this week.
