It was a turning point for the clubhouse. The app’s servers trembled under the weight of tens of thousands – if not hundreds of thousands – of listeners who simultaneously flocked to the platform to hear Tesla founder Elon Musk speak. Members panicked briefly when the “room” he was speaking in quickly filled to its capacity of 5,000 listeners and hit people trying to break in. Within 10 minutes “overflow” rooms appeared, into which the clubhouse led Elon. The platform did not work properly but failed to collapse.
